Earlier this year, I attended and was a sponsor of The Southern C Summit in Sea Island, Georgia. After a year of very little in-person interaction, I was hesitant to take the leap to attend a "large event" (wild how our definitions event size, personal space, and "crowded," have changed, isn't it?), but I was confident in the care I know TSC takes in planning their events and in the safety precautions both they and Sea Island were taking to keep attendees safe.
Part of my sponsorship was taking part in the Sip, Shop, & Socialize event held during the Summit. I was thrilled to share my work with The Southern C community; their style and taste are unparalleled. They love color, personal home decor, and items with a story as much as I do. In short, these are my people, so I was both over the moon to share my work with them and more than a wee bit nervous to see their reaction.
I was blown away by the response of The Southern C community. Everyone was encouraging and complimentary. Many attendees were thrilled to take originals home. A week that had started out with me nervous and jittery ended up blossoming into a beautiful experience.
At the Sip, Shop, & Socialize event, the wonderful women behind Born on Fifth and Bows & Blue approached my table. They were particularly taken with my Mini Shelfie pieces. We spent the next few minutes chatting while they picked out their favorites.

The particularly beautiful part of The Southern C community (and why I decided to join their membership) is that these people follow up. This isn't your usual conference where you meet people, chat for a few days, then find their card in your wallet two years later and try to remember who they are. The people you meet at the summit become and remain an active part of your life. This community sincerely embodies their mission to "connect, collaborate, create."
Which is why I was so touched and excited to create a custom collection for Bows & Blue! The collection launches this Thursday, March 11th, at 8am EST exclusively at Bows & Blue. Not only is this collection a dream project (with such a sweet team!), it feels like a natural extension of my experience at The Southern C summit.
What better way to spark creativity than community?
