These original color studies are the behind-the-scenes heart of my collection with Elements of Style. Before the final designs were chosen, I brought these eight abstract works—each one painted by hand—into in-person meetings with Erin Gates and her team. Together, we used them to guide the color palette, tone, and direction of what became a bestselling collaboration.
